Tudor Shuts Down Pressure Talk as Spurs Sink Deeper Into Crisis

Igor Tudor wasn't having it. When the subject of "pressure" came up in his post-match debrief following Tottenham's latest catastrophe, the Croat manager simply drew a line under the conversation and walked away from the topic entirely.

The collapse at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday proved yet another hammer blow for Tudor's embattled reign. A 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace leaves Spurs languishing just one point above the relegation zone, and the calls for the manager's head are growing louder by the match. Three games in, and significant sections of the fanbase are already demanding his removal.

Dominic Solanke had given Tottenham an encouraging start, neatly converting Archie Gray's cross beyond Dean Henderson. But what followed was a masterclass in self-destruction. Micky van de Ven's clumsy foul on Ismaila Sarr in the box handed Palace a penalty that the winger duly slotted home, before receiving his marching orders for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity. Jørgen Strand Larsen restored Palace's lead before halftime, and Sarr added a fourth to cap off a thoroughly miserable opening 45 minutes for the hosts.

In his post-match remarks, Tudor attempted to project optimism, highlighting positive signs he'd observed in his squad's mentality. "I saw something in the team, I saw that there is something, even now in the dressing room after the game," he explained. "When we will be complete and I choose the right guys, it will be good I believe. I saw something, some good energy, some wish to do, some passion. The fight, I saw it was there."

He acknowledged the red card as a turning point. "Unfortunately the red card changed the game but there are still nine games to play," Tudor noted.

However, the 47-year-old's demeanour shifted noticeably when pressed on whether the mounting pressure – whether from the club's precarious league position, their abysmal form, or the relegation battle unfolding with West Ham and Nottingham Forest – had contributed to Van de Ven's 40th-minute lapse in concentration.

"We need to stop speaking about pressure," Tudor stated firmly. "This is not a topic I speak about."

When the TNT Sports reporter attempted to probe further, asking whether pressure was a factor given Spurs' position just a point clear of the drop zone, Tudor tried to talk over the journalist and ultimately refused any further engagement on the subject.

"I will not speak anymore about pressure," he concluded bluntly, effectively shutting down the line of questioning.
