Real Madrid Circle Tottenham's Porro While Spurs Hunt Attacking Reinforcements

Real Madrid have Tottenham's Pedro Porro in their sights as a potential alternative to Trent Alexander-Arnold, with Spanish outlet Madrid Universal reporting that Los Blancos believe the right-back could provide valuable competition for the Liverpool-bound defender.

Porro has clocked up 28 appearances across all competitions for Spurs this season, and the Madrid hierarchy apparently view him as a ready-made solution to bolster their defensive ranks. The Spanish giants are specifically keen on recruiting a Spanish player to challenge Alexander-Arnold, according to the reports.

Back at Tottenham, it's been a frustrating campaign so far under Thomas Frank, with inconsistent performances blighting their push up the Premier League table. The north London outfit have managed just four wins from their last 14 matches in all competitions, though they've shown signs of recovery with three victories in their most recent six outings.

Recognising the need for reinforcement, Tottenham's decision-makers are preparing to back Frank in the January transfer market. The club are actively scouting options in both midfield and the wide areas, though they've also faced the prospect of losing key personnel to bigger fish.

An enquiry for West Ham's Antoine Semenyo came to nothing after Manchester City emerged as the player's preferred destination. However, Spurs remain determined to land an attacking talent capable of transforming their fortunes. Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche has emerged as a primary target, with the club identifying him as a prospect with considerable potential.

Negotiations proved unsuccessful last summer, but Tottenham have maintained close monitoring of the situation with a view to striking a deal in the current window. Akliouche's parent club are enduring a difficult season, sitting ninth in Ligue 1, a circumstance that could work in Spurs' favour should they make a concrete move.

The 22-year-old has previously suggested openness to a Premier League switch. Speaking after Tottenham's Champions League stalemate with Monaco in October, Akliouche said: "I thought it was very flattering to have these kind of stories and links, but I'm a Monaco player and I'm playing against Spurs, so I will give my best. In terms of playing in the Premier League, why not? We will see in the future, but [against Spurs] I will give my all."

Earlier in the summer, when asked about potential departure rumours, he had stated: "I am under contract at Monaco and I hope that I will be here next season, why not?"

Monaco's struggles this term could prove the catalyst needed to finally get a deal over the line, with the player potentially more receptive to pushing for a move if Tottenham come calling with a serious offer.
