Should the axe fall, Tottenham's hierarchy has identified their preferred course of action. According to reports, the club is "waiting to sack" Frank partly because they fear an inability to secure their top managerial targets immediately. In such circumstances, appointing an interim manager until season's end emerges as the most likely scenario.

The financial implications of removing Frank also weigh on decision-makers. Dr Dan Plumley, a football finance specialist, outlined the potential cost. With Frank earning approximately £8 million annually with several years remaining on his contract, a severance package could run to roughly that figure, assuming standard termination clauses are invoked.

"Managers don't typically receive their full contract payout," Plumley explained. "There's usually a predetermined termination fee agreed upfront – often around a year's salary. If Frank is indeed on £8m annually, you'd be looking at compensation in that ballpark."

The convergence of these factors – managerial uncertainty, the transfer window's final days, and the financial burden of a potential dismissal – creates a fraught atmosphere at Tottenham as the club grapples with another identity crisis.
