Porro Clarifies Dugout Outburst as Spurs Face Atletico Madrid Crunch Tie

Pedro Porro has sought to clear the air at a fraught Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, denying that his post-substitution theatrics during the 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace were aimed at interim boss Igor Tudor.

The right-back's moment of frustration—which saw him lash out at a dugout chair and appear to direct words towards the touchline—has added to the mounting pressure engulfing north London. With Spurs yet to register a single point across Tudor's opening three matches in charge and the club now sitting precariously just one point clear of the relegation zone, occupied by West Ham, the atmosphere has become decidedly tense.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday's Champions League last-16 encounter with Atletico Madrid, Porro moved to clarify the record. "I just want to make it clear it was not about the manager," he told reporters. "I am a player who gives it all on the pitch, 200%, and we never like losing. It is just about that."

The 27-year-old went on to express his backing for Tudor's appointment, suggesting the squad understands what needs to happen. "Since I found out he was coming to the club, I knew he was going to be a manager that would help us a lot. All of the players know that we need to be on the right path with him. This is a tough situation, but the most important thing right now is to focus on tomorrow's game."

Tudor himself has framed the European fixture as a potential catalyst for Spurs' domestic revival. "I believe that these kinds of games can help us to switch in the right way," the interim manager said. "This is a normal thing that this is something extra, but that doesn't mean that we don't want to pass to the next round. Of course, it's very important. We have to grow, so it can be an opportunity. A totally different mentality can be used in this kind of game. Maybe this can help us to see which problems we have, but always focus on us, to grow as a team, to do things better and that's the point."

On a more positive note, Porro welcomed the return of Cristian Romero to the squad following his absence. "Cuti is a very important player for us," Porro explained. "We know it, everyone in the squad knows it. He makes all the difference, and we missed him a lot, because he can give a lot to the team. We are delighted to have him back. He is hugely important for us."
