Spurs Chase Liverpool Pair Robertson and Jones in January Spending Spree

Tottenham's January recruitment drive shows no signs of slowing down, with the north London club eyeing not one but two Liverpool stars to bolster their squad under Thomas Frank.

Despite winning the Premier League title in his debut season, Liverpool have since faltered dramatically—now sitting 14 points adrift of Arsenal at the summit.

Andy Robertson's situation at Anfield has shifted markedly following the arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, with the Scotland captain slipping down the pecking order. What was initially earmarked as a summer target for Spurs has now been accelerated, and according to reports, Tottenham have already lodged an official bid with Liverpool. Discussions between the clubs are ongoing, with Robertson understood to be open to the switch. The stumbling block remains financial, with both sides working to bridge the gap.

Should Robertson depart, Liverpool are unlikely to rush into recruiting another left-back immediately, having already secured Jorrel Hato last summer. Instead, the plan is to bring Kostas Tsimikas back from his Roma loan spell—a move that requires club-to-club negotiations rather than triggering any recall clause, though Roma are reportedly amenable to facilitating the transfer.

Tottenham's ambition doesn't end with Robertson. The Lilywhites are also casting an eye over Curtis Jones, Liverpool's midfielder, despite having already completed the signing of Conor Gallagher earlier this month. Jones has featured regularly for the Reds this season but could be tempted by fresh surroundings. An opening gambit of £30m is being mooted from Spurs' end, though Liverpool would almost certainly demand considerably more for their academy product.

The midfielder pursuit gains added intrigue should Liverpool's own interest in Wharton intensify, potentially freeing up resources and opening the door for Tottenham's advances. Both Robertson and Jones have admirers within the Spurs setup, with their potential arrivals part of a broader strategy to revamp the squad's fortunes.
