Tottenham Circle Delap as Chelsea Forward Eyes Exit Route

Fresh from scraping survival on the final day with a 1-0 victory over Everton, Tottenham are plotting an ambitious summer rebuild to avoid another relegation scrap. The north London club have already moved swiftly in the market, securing Andy Robertson from Liverpool and Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth on free transfers.

Now, transfer correspondent Ben Jacobs has identified Chelsea's Liam Delap as a potential striking target, alongside reported pursuit of Brighton's Jan Paul van Hecke and Manchester City's Savinho. The Chelsea forward endured a difficult debut campaign in west London and could be available should his situation fail to improve.

Speaking on the Last Word on Spurs channel, Jacobs outlined the striker's predicament. Delap remains determined to prove himself under Xabi Alonso, with Joao Felix established as the primary attacking option. The question mark hangs over who slots in as the second-choice forward, with Nico Jackson returning from a Bayern loan spell hoping to impress the new manager.

"Once that pecking order becomes clearer, if Delap enters the market, Newcastle, Everton and Tottenham are the three Premier League clubs I'm hearing," Jacobs revealed. The trio's interest suggests Delap could attract multiple suitors should Chelsea decide to move him on.

Danny Murphy, the former Tottenham midfielder, believes Richarlison could become expendable under new manager Roberto De Zerbi. The Brazilian forward has struggled to win over the Tottenham faithful, and Murphy anticipates De Zerbi will target reinforcements down the spine of his side.

"De Zerbi loves intensity and a high press – Solanke provides that when fit, but his injury record is concerning," Murphy told Goal. "I'd expect them to bring in at least four signings, possibly more. Richarlison could be collateral damage; he simply hasn't delivered the quality supporters demand from a lead striker."

Senesi's arrival has already bolstered the backline, with the Argentine defender praised for his Premier League experience and distribution. De Zerbi's overhaul appears well underway as Tottenham look to transform their fortunes.
