Spurs Turn to Mason as Tudor's Days Look Numbered

Igor Tudor's brief spell in charge of Tottenham is hanging by a thread. The interim manager has overseen three straight losses since taking the reins following Thomas Frank's departure, and the club hierarchy appear ready to make a change—likely after next week's Liverpool clash.

While Robbie Keane and Roberto De Zerbi have been mooted as potential replacements, Football Insider reports that Tottenham have settled on a more familiar face: Ryan Mason. The 34-year-old has already done the temporary gig twice before, in 2021 and 2023, compiling a record of six wins and six defeats across 13 matches. That includes the Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester City that came after Jose Mourinho's exit.

Mason's most recent managerial venture ended in disappointment at West Brom, where he was sacked in January following consecutive away defeats in the Championship. Yet Spurs apparently still view him as a "good fit" should they need to steady the ship during what's shaping up as a relegation scrap.

De Zerbi, the former Brighton and Napoli boss, is understood to be less keen on stepping into an interim role, while Keane—the ex-Spurs striker—has also been considered. No final decision has been made on Tudor's future, but the club are evidently preparing contingency plans.

There's been idle chatter about Harry Redknapp making a fairytale return 14 years after his previous stint in the dugout. When quizzed on whether he'd take the job if offered, Redknapp replied: "Of course I would have to, wouldn't I? But it's not going to happen. No, I can't see that happening. I think I'll be at Cheltenham on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday." He's also suggested Spurs are now "favourites" to go down.
