Spurs Wrap Up Senesi Deal as Savinho Record Move Takes Shape

Tottenham are conducting a busy summer rebuild, moving quickly to strengthen multiple areas of their squad. The north London club have now sealed the capture of 29-year-old Argentine defender Marcos Senesi on a free transfer, putting pen to paper on a four-year contract following a verbal agreement that had been in place since March.

The centre-back joins fellow summer arrival Andy Robertson, the 32-year-old left-back secured from Liverpool earlier in the week. Whilst Robertson's peak years are behind him, Spurs are banking on his experience and leadership to bolster a dressing room that has been crying out for stronger personalities and characters.

With Senesi's deal wrapped up, attention now turns to making Joao Palhinha's temporary stint a permanent fixture. The Bayern Munich loanee delivered when it mattered most, scoring the crucial goal that kept Tottenham up on the final day of a difficult campaign. The Portuguese midfielder has an option to buy clause valued at €30m (£26m), and the club are confident of concluding the permanent move imminently. Palhinha is viewed as central to Roberto De Zerbi's plans moving forward, though Sporting, Porto, and Benfica are all monitoring the situation.

The headline transfer business could yet involve Savinho. Manchester City have now given their blessing for the 22-year-old Brazilian winger to depart, with Tottenham having reactivated negotiations. The left-footed talent was receptive to a move to north London last summer, but City rejected two bids—the highest reaching €80m (£70m)—and blocked the transfer following their failure to land Rodrygo from Real Madrid.

Circumstances have shifted considerably. Savinho has endured a frustrating season at the Etihad with limited starts, and all parties are now aligned on a move materialising. Should Spurs match their previous valuation, the 22-year-old would shatter the club's transfer record, eclipsing Dominic Solanke's £65m fee (including add-ons).
