Neros Coachman, who works in Tottenham's academy setup, shared a photo on social media sporting Spurs kit alongside a caption promising to help bring "superstars to the club." What followed was a predictable bout of online banter, though it's one that hasn't amused the powers that be at Tottenham.

When a supporter quipped that Coachman shouldn't let the badge "touch your skin," the scout replied: "I've already got the base layer"—a cheeky reference to needing protection from his new employers' crest. Further exchanges saw him play along with suggestions that Arsenal might benefit from having someone "on the inside," responding with a winking emoji and a "shhhhh."

Asked how he managed to get dressed in Tottenham kit, Coachman quipped it had been "tough." A snake emoji prompted another joking response from the scout, who appeared to be thoroughly enjoying the wind-up.

Yet despite the clearly lighthearted nature of the exchanges, Tottenham's hierarchy has reportedly taken umbrage. The club is understood to be "deeply unimpressed" with Coachman's commentary and is dealing with the matter internally.

The timing hardly helps. Tottenham sit just four points clear of the relegation zone, with interim boss Igor Tudor having overseen defeats in both matches since taking over from Thomas Frank. The Danish manager, sacked after a torrid run of results that included a 3-2 loss to Bournemouth—a match Frank attended the Vitality Stadium for while conspicuously carrying an Arsenal cup—has his work cut out.

Following the latest setback against Fulham, Tudor reflected on his team's shortcomings with characteristic bluntness. "We are lacking when we attack," he told reporters. "We lack the quality to score. We are lacking in the middle to run, and we are lacking behind to stay there and not concede. It's an amazing situation."

With the club battling for survival, the last thing Tottenham needed was an internal controversy. Whether Coachman's jest warranted the club's apparent displeasure remains debatable, but at a time when results matter most, Spurs can ill afford any distractions.
