Tottenham Eye Marco Rose as Interim Manager After Frank Sacking

Tottenham have resolved to bring in a temporary manager before hunting for a permanent successor this summer, with ex-RB Leipzig head coach Marco Rose now firmly in the frame to take over from Thomas Frank.

The Lilywhites dispensed with Frank's services on Wednesday, three days after a damaging 2-1 home reverse to Newcastle United left them winless across eight Premier League fixtures. Languishing in 16th place, Spurs find themselves perilously close to the relegation zone and in desperate need of a swift turnaround.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the club have settled on appointing a caretaker to shepherd them through to the end of the campaign, with the hunt for a long-term boss to commence in the summer window.

Rose, who spent time as a player under Jurgen Klopp during his Mainz days, has emerged as a surprise candidate to fill the hot seat. The German tactician's credentials include stints managing both Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, and TalkSPORT report he is now being considered among Spurs' options.

The appointment could potentially pave the way for Netherlands international Xavi Simons—who flourished under Rose's tutelage—to reunite with his former coach in north London as Tottenham reshape their squad.

When reflecting on his formative years under the Liverpool legend, Rose acknowledged the profound impact Klopp had on his development. "I spent considerable time working under 'Kloppo', and those were special years," he reflected. "He moulded all of us. We absorbed plenty regarding the football side of things, but fundamentally, it was his approach with people that proved most influential."

He added: "There may be certain coaching similarities between myself and Jurgen, though I've cultivated my own approach along the way."

Rose has previously outlined his tactical philosophy to the Bundesliga's official channels, offering a window into what Tottenham supporters might expect should he land the role. His teams operate with intense pressing after losing possession, employing aggressive running to win the ball high up the pitch and create swift attacking transitions.

"When we lose the ball, we're extremely active—lots of sprinting involved," Rose explained. "Our aim is to regain possession in advanced areas and maintain a short route to goal. When we're in possession ourselves, we're keen to play attractive football; we're not the type to hoof it long, but rather move the ball quickly and dynamically forward."
