De Zerbi Should Steer Clear of Spurs Job, Warns Italian Journalist

Tottenham have parted ways with Igor Tudor following a disastrous spell in the dugout, and now Roberto De Zerbi is emerging as a potential replacement—though not everyone thinks the Italian should take the bait.

The club announced Tudor's departure on Sunday by mutual consent. The Croatian's tenure was nothing short of catastrophic, yielding just one win, one draw, and five defeats across seven matches in all competitions. With Spurs hovering just a single point clear of the Premier League drop zone, the situation has become genuinely precarious.

Goalkeeping Coach Tomislav Rogic and Physical Coach Riccardo Ragnacci have also departed. In their statement, Tottenham thanked the departing staff for their efforts over the past six weeks, while also acknowledging a recent bereavement affecting Tudor and offering their support.

Reports suggest Tottenham are attempting to persuade De Zerbi to take over immediately rather than waiting until summer. Some sources indicate the manager is now open to the prospect of joining early.

However, Italian journalist Daniele Fisichella has issued a stern warning. Speaking on TalkSPORT, Fisichella argued forcefully against the move, citing four key reasons why De Zerbi should think twice.

"For me, it's a categorical no," Fisichella stated. "I hope De Zerbi doesn't take the Spurs job just yet."

With only seven games to play, Fisichella contends that Spurs need a caretaker figure—someone from within the organisation who can step in immediately. De Zerbi, by contrast, requires time to implement his methods and needs a proper pre-season to work with his squad. Throwing him into a relegation dogfight mid-season would be setting him up to fail, the reasoning goes.

"They do not need a De Zerbi right now because he needs time, he needs a pre-season," Fisichella explained. "He cannot quickly fix a situation that does look bad."

Fisichella also reflected on his own miscalculation regarding Tudor's appointment, admitting he had overestimated the former Juventus manager's ability to turn things around at the club.

"Do not take that job," Fisichella concluded, his message unmistakable.
