Tottenham Complete Third January Deal While Kolo Muani Exit Looms

Tottenham's January spending spree shows no signs of slowing, with the club having wrapped up a deal for West Ham's highly-regarded youngster Elisha Sowunmi—their third acquisition of the window.

The 18-year-old has been on Spurs' radar for over a year, and Ange Postecoglou's side have fended off competition from Celtic and Club Brugge to land the talented prospect. The North London outfit have now reached an agreement to bring him to the club.

It's been a season to forget for Spurs thus far. Despite Thomas Frank's summer appointment, the side continue to languish in the bottom half of the Premier League table, showing little improvement from the Ange Postecoglou era. Their only consolation lies in the Champions League, where they've secured a place in the knockout stages—though early exits from both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup have compounded the gloom.

With Conor Gallagher and Souza already through the door this month, Spurs have been busy trying to turn their fortunes around. Moves for Andy Robertson and Jean-Philippe Mateta have slipped through their fingers, but time remains to add further reinforcements before the window slams shut.

The Mateta saga, however, is intrinsically linked to what happens with Randal Kolo Muani. The striker's loan arrangement from Juventus is now under scrutiny, with Spurs reportedly considering a U-turn on his future. Should they opt to terminate his spell early and send him back to Turin, it could create the necessary space to pursue the Crystal Palace forward.

Kolo Muani did bag a goal in Spurs' Champions League victory over Eintracht Frankfurt—the result that secured their last-16 berth—but he's failed to establish himself as a regular starter or prolific goalscorer in the Premier League. Juventus, meanwhile, are actively hunting for striker reinforcements, and Kolo Muani's previous successful loan spell in Italy means he could fit the bill perfectly.

Should all the dominoes fall into place—and that's a sizeable if—Spurs could free up attacking resources to make a genuine push for Mateta. But as things stand, there remain numerous variables still to play out before the window closes.
