Tottenham Ready to Cash In on Vuskovic as Brighton Circle Tightens

Brighton's pursuit of Luka Vuskovic appears to be edging towards a successful conclusion, with Tottenham now seemingly willing to accept a fresh offer for the Croatian centre-back after previously suggesting they would hold firm.

The Seagulls have already seen multiple bids rejected for the 19-year-old, but their latest approach may finally break Spurs' resistance. Reports suggest Vuskovic has already reached a verbal understanding with Brighton over personal terms, and the south-coast club are growing in confidence they can seal the deal.

Vuskovic arrived at Tottenham from Hajduk Split in 2023 but has yet to feature in a senior appearance for the club. However, his loan spell at Hamburg last season caught plenty of eyes—the youngster bagged six goals across 28 Bundesliga outings and has since earned a spot in Croatia's World Cup squad.

Tottenham's apparent U-turn on keeping the defender has raised eyebrows, particularly given their defensive troubles last season. The north London outfit were forced to bring in Kevin Danso as cover while Van de Ven and Romero battled injury problems, yet curiously opted not to recall Vuskovic from his Hamburg posting despite his impressive form.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown has shed light on Spurs' thinking, suggesting the club simply don't fancy Vuskovic as highly as others do. "Tottenham are ready to let him go for the right price," Brown explained. "There are question marks at Spurs about whether he's good enough to play a part there."

Brown pointed to the decision not to bring Vuskovic back during last season's defensive crisis as particularly telling. "That stands out to me as a bit of a concern," he noted. "Whether it's the manager's decision or the club's decision, they don't seem to rate him as highly as some others do."

With two new centre-backs seemingly on their way to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Brown's assessment suggests the club view Vuskovic as surplus to requirements despite his undoubted potential. Brighton, by contrast, appear convinced the teenager can develop into a genuine asset—and Spurs look ready to let him find out elsewhere.
