Goretzka Summer Move to Arsenal Looking Increasingly Likely, Says Transfer Expert

Leon Goretzka has emerged as a genuine summer target for Arsenal, with German transfer specialist Christian Falk suggesting the Bayern Munich midfielder is receptive to a move to the Premier League leaders.

The 30-year-old was on the Gunners' radar during the January window following Mikel Merino's broken foot, but Goretzka made clear his preference to remain in Munich through the end of the campaign. Falk's latest reporting indicates that picture could shift dramatically come the summer, when the German international's contract expires.

"There is a strong chance that Goretzka could move to Arsenal next summer if the north London club make an offer for him," Falk told CFBayern Insider. The midfielder himself has indicated that his playing style aligns well with Premier League football, leaving the door firmly open for a future switch.

Arsenal's January recruitment proved relatively quiet, with the only significant deadline-day business seeing teenager Evan Mooney arrive from St Mirren. The club also explored options around Sandro Tonali of Newcastle, though those discussions remained agent-driven rather than representing formal interest from Arteta's side.

Competition for Goretzka's signature appears likely to materialise. Both Atletico Madrid and Tottenham are understood to be monitoring the situation, though Arsenal's serious January approach suggests they hold a meaningful advantage should they choose to push forward.

Goretzka's current standing at Bayern tells its own story. Under Vincent Kompany's stewardship, he has featured 28 times across all competitions this season but has barely featured in the Champions League league phase and made just four full Bundesliga appearances. A move to consistent first-team football holds obvious appeal for a player of his calibre, even at 30.

He did find the net in Bayern's 8-1 demolition of Wolfsburg in November and appears destined to claim his seventh Bundesliga title with the club this season, but regular playing time remains elusive.
