Semenyo to Manchester City Deal Done; Guardiola Eyes Palace Defender Guehi

Manchester City appear set to land one of the Premier League's standout performers this January, with Antoine Semenyo's move to the Etihad Stadium now in the bag. The Bournemouth winger has been the subject of intense interest from England's elite, and City have finally pulled ahead of the pack to secure his signature.

His form has naturally attracted the attention of every Big Six outfit, though Liverpool appeared the front-runners initially as they sought cover for Mohamed Salah. The Merseysiders' reluctance to move in January, preferring to wait until summer, handed City the opportunity they needed.

Reports indicate that City have fended off Manchester United's advances to land the Ghana international, with an agreement now struck between the Premier League champions and Bournemouth. Yet Guardiola's ambitions don't end there. City are understood to be in active talks with Crystal Palace regarding defender Marc Guehi, though any January move remains far from straightforward. The Palace captain's contract situation makes him a free agent from next summer, and Liverpool have long harboured designs on landing him—they came agonisingly close last summer when a £35m agreement was reached on deadline day, only for Palace to pull the plug due to replacement concerns.

Guehi is unlikely to be in any rush to depart Selhurst Park mid-season unless presented with a contract offer that proves genuinely exceptional. The defender holds all the cards given his impending free agency, and barring an extraordinary proposal from City, Liverpool, or another heavyweight, expect him to bide his time and reassess his options come summer.
