Man Utd Banking on £70m from Hojlund and Rashford Permanent Deals to Fund Summer Overhaul

Manchester United have their sights set on a significant summer rebuild, and according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the club's financial planning hinges on two high-profile permanent moves materialising.

The Red Devils are counting on around €80 million (roughly £70m) coming through the exits of Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford, who are currently on loan at Napoli and Barcelona respectively.

For Hojlund, the numbers are straightforward. Napoli already paid a €6m loan fee, and the Serie A side are expected to activate the €44m option-to-buy clause when summer arrives. The Danish striker has settled well in Italy, and both player and club are content to make the arrangement permanent, meaning United should bank €50m from that transaction alone.

Rashford's situation requires slightly more patience. Barcelona remain keen on converting his loan into a permanent deal, and whilst club-to-club negotiations continue at a measured pace—particularly given Barcelona's financial constraints—an agreement has already been reached with the player's representatives. The expectation is that a €30m deal will eventually go through, with Rashford fully committed to remaining at the Camp Nou.

"Barcelona want him, Rashford is ready to stay at Barça," Romano explained. "Remember, from Man United, Højlund could be 50 and Rashford could be 30—so €80m potentially, which could be an important budget for United."

This anticipated windfall represents a crucial part of United's summer strategy. The club has already identified their recruitment priorities, with a left-winger topping the wish list. Journalist Ben Jacobs has indicated that Yan Diomande sits prominently among the targets being pushed by Christopher Vivell, United's recruitment chief, with expectations the club will make a substantial investment in that position.

A fresh midfielder is also on the agenda. There has been chatter linking Bruno Guimarães of Newcastle with a move to Old Trafford, having been raised as a potential target by Casemiro. Should the Brazilian leave Newcastle, he has indicated a willingness to remain in the Premier League, despite his public displays of loyalty to the Magpies.

United's recent transfer business has yielded positive results, with summer signings including Senne Lammens, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko all establishing themselves as quality additions. The club has also shown nous in offloading fringe players, with the summer window seeing most of their surplus squad moved on to their advantage—most notably Rashford and Hojlund, both of whom have thrived during their spells away.
