Spurs Go All-In for Savinho as De Zerbi Orchestrates Man City Raid

Tottenham are mounting a serious challenge to Manchester City's hold on Savinho, with the club determined to smash their transfer record in the process. Manager Roberto De Zerbi has given the green light to pursue the Brazilian winger, and sources indicate the player himself is amenable to the switch to north London.

The Lilywhites face a summer of considerable upheaval following consecutive finishes of 17th place—a state of affairs the club hierarchy has deemed wholly unacceptable. A squad overhaul is firmly on the agenda, and Savinho represents the marquee signing that could signal intent.

Spurs have already moved to strengthen their defensive ranks. A deal in principle exists with Bournemouth centre-back Marcos Senesi, while the club remains in the hunt for Liverpool's Andy Robertson, despite Juventus attempting to muscle in on negotiations. Both defensive recruits would arrive without transfer fees, preserving significant funds for attacking reinforcements.

The pursuit of Savinho is not a new venture. Tottenham tested Manchester City's resolve with two official bids last summer, with the larger offer reported at €80m—equivalent to roughly £70m—which would have established a new club record. City rebuffed both approaches at the time.

Currently, Dominic Solanke holds the distinction of Tottenham's record signing following his £65m move from Bournemouth, which comprised £55m upfront plus £10m in add-ons.

The situation has shifted considerably since last August. City had contemplated pursuing Real Madrid's Rodrygo and were open to releasing Savinho, but when the Rodrygo deal proved impossible, the Premier League champions opted instead to offer Savinho fresh terms. He penned a new contract in September.

However, Savinho's campaign at the Etihad has proven frustrating. The winger's desire for regular football has prompted Tottenham's fresh offensive, with De Zerbi and the club's hierarchy determined to resurrect discussions with City.

Newcastle have also registered interest, but Spurs are moving swiftly to advance club-to-club negotiations. Crucially, Savinho expressed openness to a Tottenham move when his future hung in the balance last summer, suggesting personal terms should present no obstacle this time around. Even the absence of European football appears unlikely to deter him.

Should Tottenham and Manchester City reach agreement on a fee, all signs point to Savinho becoming a Spurs player.
