Vinicius Junior Pushing Real Madrid to Move for Liverpool's Szoboszlai

Dominik Szoboszlai has caught the eye of Real Madrid's attacking contingent, with Vinicius Junior apparently making his admiration known in the Spanish capital's corridors of power.

The Liverpool midfielder has been one of the Premier League's genuine bright spots this season, racking up ten goals and seven assists across 38 appearances in all competitions. This despite Arne Slot's side languishing in sixth place—a far cry from last term's title triumph—and the club's summer spending spree exceeding £400m.

Szoboszlai, 25, has been asked to turn his hand to various roles across the pitch, yet his performances have remained consistently sharp. Spanish outlet Defensa Central suggests that Vinicius Junior views him as the missing piece for Real Madrid's midfield puzzle come summer. The publication reports that the Brazilian forward has been actively championing the Hungarian's cause within the Bernabéu, noting: "Vinicius insists that Szoboszlai is the ideal signing for Real Madrid's midfield next season...seems to have a very close relationship with Vinicius Junior."

The speculation has grown sufficiently for Real Madrid to reportedly consider offering Rodrygo as a makeweight in any potential deal.

Yet Liverpool's stance appears resolute. TEAMtalk reported late last month that the Reds are confident of securing Szoboszlai on fresh terms before the campaign concludes. According to the outlet, negotiations between club and player have progressed smoothly, with all parties aligned on continuing their partnership.

Szoboszlai's agent Matyas Esterhazy has further dampened any talk of a summer departure. Speaking to Hungary's NB1, Esterhazy emphasised his client's singular focus: "For us it's not a topic. We are mid-season; he has a lot of work ahead of him in the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League."

He added: "Not to mention, Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and Dominik is in a position within the team that has a lot of reserve. So we are not looking outside or elsewhere."
