Vinicius Jr Deal Set to Accelerate as Real Madrid Make Fresh Push

The saga surrounding Vinicius Junior's future at Real Madrid appears to be approaching a resolution, with reports suggesting a new contract agreement is imminent.

The Brazilian winger's situation has dominated headlines throughout the campaign, with his existing deal running until 2027 and uncertainty surrounding whether both parties would find common ground. Madrid had previously faced a dilemma: either meet the forward's substantial demands or cash in during the summer window. Interest from both Premier League and Saudi Pro League outfits had circulated as a result.

However, the landscape has shifted considerably. Vinicius has been in devastating form of late, netting four goals across his last two outings, and the club's resolve to keep him appears unwavering.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez remains fully committed to retaining his star man. The relationship between the two is described as excellent, with a formal contract proposal already on the table. Madrid are now "pushing strongly" to seal an agreement at the earliest opportunity, with negotiations actively progressing rather than stalling.

"The situation remains very clear," Romano stated. "Florentino Perez is fully committed to extending the player's contract and wants him to stay at Real Madrid. The relationship between the president and the player is excellent, and the club have already presented a contract proposal. Real Madrid are pushing strongly to reach an agreement as soon as possible."

He added: "This is now a negotiation phase, with discussions ongoing, but the intention from the club side has always been consistent. Florentino Perez wants Vinícius Junior to remain at Real Madrid, and that position has not changed."

Journalist Nicolo Schira has subsequently reported that an extension through to 2031 is "getting closer" to completion, suggesting the protracted discussions may finally be reaching their endgame.

Elsewhere, Romano has also provided clarity on two other potential Madrid moves, both of which appear unlikely to materialise. He dismissed speculation linking PSG's Achraf Hakimi with a switch to the Bernabéu, confirming the defender's agent has "closed the door completely" on any departure from Paris. Hakimi remains content in the French capital and is focused on helping PSG advance in the Champions League.

Similarly, Chelsea's Moises Caicedo is not on Madrid's radar, despite reports suggesting the club might explore midfield reinforcements this summer. No contact has been made, and Caicedo's focus remains entirely on Stamford Bridge.
