Valverde and Tchouameni Hit with Record Fines After Madrid Dressing Room Bust-Up

The Madrid faithful's misery continued this week as Real Madrid moved swiftly to punish Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouameni for their clash, imposing financial sanctions described as "unprecedented" in the club's disciplinary history.

The pair were summoned before an investigating officer on Friday following the incident that came to light in the build-up to Sunday's El Clásico against Barcelona. Both players subsequently expressed their contrition, apologising to one another, their teammates, the coaching staff, and the club's supporters.

Valverde, the Uruguay midfielder, was hospitalised following the altercation and has since been diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. Medical protocols dictate he will spend between 10 and 14 days at rest before his return to training.

Real Madrid's statement confirmed the disciplinary outcome: each player faces a €500,000 fine—a figure representing approximately 5% of their gross salaries. The club emphasised this represented a landmark punishment within their internal procedures.

The incident underscores what has become an increasingly fractious campaign for the Spanish giants. Manager Alvaro Arboleda has struggled in the post-Xabi Alonso era, with the club having failed to capture a major trophy for two consecutive seasons.
