Madrid in Turmoil: Mbappe Leads Player Revolt Against Arbeloa's Authority

The wheels are coming off at the Bernabeu with alarming speed. Barely two months into his tenure, Alvaro Arbeloa finds himself facing a full-scale player revolt led by none other than Kylian Mbappe, who appears determined to make life difficult for the beleaguered boss.

According to Spanish sources, Mbappe sits at the heart of a disgruntled faction of Madrid stars who have collectively decided they simply don't rate their manager's ability to command respect in the dressing room. Alongside the French forward, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurélien Tchouaméni, and Arda Güler have all joined the chorus of dissent, with Mbappe functioning as the group's de facto spokesperson.

The timing couldn't be worse for Arbeloa, whose start has been nothing short of calamitous. While he's managed four victories from his opening six matches, the embarrassing Copa del Rey exit at the hands of Albacete combined with a humbling defeat to Benfica—which now forces Madrid into a Champions League play-off scramble to reach the last 16—has left him looking distinctly uncomfortable in the hot seat.

The appointment itself remains deeply unpopular within the squad. Xabi Alonso's sacking last month, just months after arriving in summer, still rankles with players who clearly harboured greater faith in his vision than they do in Arbeloa's credentials.

The situation has become so untenable that Madrid's hierarchy is already plotting an exit strategy. Jurgen Klopp remains the club's primary target, despite the German repeatedly insisting his Liverpool departure marked the end of his managerial ambitions. The former Reds boss has expressed contentment in his current role with Red Bull's global soccer operations and has previously suggested he left Anfield too exhausted to contemplate another top-level post.

Yet that hasn't deterred Toni Kroos from attempting to work his magic behind the scenes. The legendary midfielder, who claimed six Champions League crowns during his Madrid years, has reportedly engaged in initial discussions with his compatriot, attempting to convince him that the Bernabeu opportunity represents a project too significant to pass up. German media suggests Kroos is even prepared to become Klopp's assistant, easing any potential language adjustment issues and helping facilitate his transition to Spanish football.

Unai Emery has also been mooted as a possible successor, though he appears to occupy a secondary position on the club's wishlist.
