Jurgen Klopp appears set to land the Germany national team post, with fresh reports indicating he's already mapped out a significant squad refresh that would see five key players shown the door.

The former Liverpool boss, who departed Anfield at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, has been in his Global Soccer role at Red Bull since Arne Slot took over at Anfield. Slot subsequently guided Liverpool to their first Premier League crown since 2020.

While Madrid had been mooted as a potential destination following Xabi Alonso's sacking in January – a dismissal that came after their 3-2 Spanish Super Cup final defeat to Barcelona – the momentum now appears to be shifting towards the German national team gig. Klopp would replace Julian Nagelsmann should the move materialise after the World Cup.

According to reports, the five players earmarked for departure are Real Madrid's Antonio Rudiger alongside Chelsea's Kai Havertz, plus midfielders Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry, and Leroy Sané. All five have been stalwarts in recent years under Nagelsmann's tenure.
