Since his exit, Klopp has occupied the position of Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull, overseeing a portfolio of clubs including RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg, and New York Red Bulls.

Real Madrid's managerial landscape shifted dramatically last month when they dispensed with Xabi Alonso following a 3-2 Spanish Super Cup final defeat to Barcelona. Alonso's dismissal came amid persistent chatter regarding tactical friction within the squad, though the club officially attributed the decision to mutual agreement. Alvaro Arbeloa assumed temporary charge in his wake, with Madrid sitting four points adrift of their Catalan rivals in La Liga at the time.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano previously outlined the situation, noting that while Klopp has admirers within the Bernabéu hierarchy, any move would require the manager to publicly signal his intention to return to the dugout. Real Madrid, Romano explained, would not make the first approach—the onus sits with Klopp himself. He further indicated that such a move would only materialise if Arbeloa fails to convince during his audition in the Champions League and domestic competition.

However, fresh reports emanating from Spain now suggest momentum is building. Perez has apparently sanctioned the departures of Ferland Mendy, Fran Garcia, Dani Ceballos, and David Alaba this summer, with Klopp reportedly insisting on a marquee acquisition as a fundamental requirement for his arrival.

That target is Manchester City's Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker, who views his City chapter as concluded, would be thrilled by the prospect of joining Madrid to spearhead an attack alongside Kylian Mbappé. Perez, it's claimed, has given the green light and stands prepared to meet whatever financial demands materialise to complete the transaction.
