"They won all the duels, ran harder, pressed better, landed on second balls, the basic things that we don't do well," he lamented after the match. Yet behind closed doors, the narrative is rather different. Thibaut Courtois has apparently taken matters into his own hands, raising concerns directly with new manager Alvaro Arbeloa about Bellingham's conduct. The goalkeeper believes the midfielder's attitude is becoming untenable, with reports suggesting Bellingham disconnects with ease, shirks defensive responsibilities, and contributes little when inspiration doesn't strike him offensively.

The situation has bred genuine discomfort in the dressing room, with Courtois convinced that firm action is needed from Arbeloa.

What's particularly damning is the contrast with Bellingham's earlier form. Once a model of defensive graft and professional standards, the England international appears to have been influenced by the attitudes of Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé, showing considerably less commitment in pressing situations.

This shift has exhausted the patience of influential figures within the club, who have increasingly blamed Bellingham for contributing to the crisis that led to Xabi Alonso's departure just over two weeks ago.

Perez, reportedly "very disappointed" with both Bellingham's performances and his demeanor, is now receptive to the notion of a sale should a compelling bid materialise. And that bid may well be forthcoming from Chelsea.
