Klopp Eyes Man City's Rodri as First Madrid Recruit as Arbeloa Exit Confirmed

Fresh reports from Spain suggest Jurgen Klopp is set to become Real Madrid's next manager, with club chief Florentino Perez convinced the German tactician represents their best option to replace Alvaro Arbeloa.

The former Liverpool boss, who has been serving as Red Bull's Global Head of Football since early 2025, has apparently given his blessing to the project at the Bernabéu. Preliminary discussions have taken place, and there is genuine optimism surrounding the appointment, though the deal remains far from sealed.

Klopp's demands are reportedly non-negotiable: a substantial salary package and complete autonomy over squad decisions. These terms are central to any potential agreement.

Whilst Mauricio Pochettino had previously been considered the frontrunner, the balance has shifted in Klopp's favour. Arbeloa's position has become untenable following Madrid's Champions League elimination, and the club hierarchy has decided a change is necessary heading into next season.

As for recruitment, Klopp has already identified his priority. Manchester City's Rodri tops his wishlist, with the Spanish midfielder described as his "obsession" and primary target. Madrid have wasted little time, initiating early contact to explore a potential transfer.
