Emery's Shopping List: Real Madrid Chief Demands Five Exits and Three Star Signings

Real Madrid's managerial crisis has taken a fascinating turn, with Unai Emery emerging as Florentino Perez's prime candidate to replace Alvaro Arbeloa – but only if the club agrees to a radical overhaul.

Arbeloa has endured a rocky start since stepping into the breach following Xabi Alonso's sacking earlier this month. Two defeats in five matches, including a chastening 4-2 Champions League hammering by Benfica that leaves Madrid facing a playoff to secure their last-16 spot, have already placed the interim boss under mounting scrutiny.

Jurgen Klopp's name has circulated persistently in connection with the Bernabeu vacancy, yet the German has given no indication of abandoning his sabbatical. This has sharpened focus on Emery, whose tenure at Aston Villa has earned widespread plaudits. Journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon confirmed the Spaniard sits atop Perez's wishlist, reporting that preliminary discussions have already commenced to establish whether Emery would entertain the proposition.

The Aston Villa manager's vision for Madrid, however, comes with a hefty price tag. According to reports, Emery has demanded the removal of Vinicius Junior – a seismic call that would necessitate shuffling Kylian Mbappe to the left and repositioning Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers as a false nine through the middle.

Yet the departures don't end there. Spanish outlet Nacional claims Emery has deemed Eduardo Camavinga, Franco Mastantuono, Fran Garcia and David Alaba surplus to requirements. The request carries particular eyebrows-raised weight regarding Mastantuono, who arrived merely months ago for approximately £40m.

Emery's recruitment demands are equally ambitious. He has reportedly stipulated that Chelsea's vice-captain Enzo Fernandez and Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni must arrive at the Bernabeu. Landing Fernandez would prove a thorny negotiation given Chelsea's valuation, whilst Bastoni would attract fierce competition from Barcelona, Manchester United and Liverpool.

Whether Perez proves willing to sanction such wholesale reconstruction – and whether Emery's ambitions prove compatible with Madrid's resources – remains to be seen.
