Bayern Make £26m Rashford Move as Barcelona Dithers on England Star

Bayern Munich have stepped forward with a concrete offer to land Marcus Rashford, meeting United's £26m valuation after the Bavarian giants completed club-to-club negotiations—though the move remains in limbo pending Barcelona's next move.

The England international's future has become decidedly murky this summer. After a productive season-long stint at Barcelona yielded 14 goals and 14 assists, the Catalans have dragged their feet on taking up the £26m permanent option available to them. They have until June 15 to trigger that clause, yet have given no indication they intend to do so.

Barcelona's reluctance stems partly from their recent business in the transfer market. Having just splashed out £70m on Anthony Gordon from Newcastle, the La Liga outfit appear to be balking at the prospect of stumping up another £26m for Rashford. Instead, reports suggest they'd prefer either another temporary arrangement or a reduced fee to keep the 28-year-old beyond the summer.

Enter Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga powerhouses have signalled their willingness to match United's £34.5m valuation of their winger, with reports indicating they are "bidding heavily" for his signature. This interest has already been communicated to the Old Trafford hierarchy.

Yet there remains a significant obstacle: Rashford's wages. At approximately £300,000 per week, his salary package represents the chief barrier to securing fresh employment. Bayern's enthusiasm has reportedly cooled somewhat on this front, with concerns that the 28-year-old would not be guaranteed a starting berth at the Allianz Arena, where Luis Diaz is expected to occupy the left flank.

Spanish sources claim Bayern have even made contact with Rashford's representatives, though that assertion appears wide of the mark. According to MARCA, should such dialogue have occurred, the response would have been unambiguous: Rashford is simply not interested in entertaining other suitors at present.

His commitment to Barcelona remains unwavering. The forward has made clear his determination to exhaust every available option to remain at the Camp Nou, whether as a continued loan or as a permanent signing. He is reportedly prepared to accept a reduced wage package to facilitate his stay—a significant concession that underscores his desire to remain in Catalonia.

"His determination to continue at the Spotify Camp Nou is total, as is his commitment to Hansi Flick's team," MARCA reported. "Rashford will exhaust all the options at his disposal to continue at Barça, either as a loan or as a transfer. He is willing to lower his salary and resign. And until the option of continuing at the Spotify Camp Nou is totally ruled out, it is not considered to link with any other team."

Meanwhile, the arrival of Gordon at Barcelona has raised eyebrows, given the former Newcastle man will occupy the left-wing berth where Rashford has operated. Yet rather than tension, camaraderie appears to have prevailed between the pair. Gordon, speaking to talkSPORT ahead of England duty, praised Rashford's generosity in easing his transition.

"He was just telling me how good the lads are there, the team spirit that they have, which I heard already from the people in Barca," Gordon said. "So I'm really looking forward to joining up with them. He was also telling me about the city, places to live. He's a lovely guy, very caring. So he was just giving me a bit of information."

For now, Rashford's future hangs in the balance. Barcelona's June 15 deadline looms large—and until then, Bayern's offer, however concrete, remains on the sidelines.
