But whilst the Reds have missed out, the domino effect of PSG's recruitment drive could create unexpected opportunities elsewhere.

Liverpool made their pitch to RB Leipzig for Diomande, hoping to convince both club and player of a move to Anfield. Neither proved persuadable, with the 22-year-old instead preferring a switch to the Parc des Princes. PSG's interest in adding Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco to their attacking arsenal only intensifies the competition for minutes among their existing forwards.

With squad depth a priority for the back-to-back Champions League winners, several PSG attackers may find themselves surplus to requirements. Here's where they could land:

Bradley Barcola to Arsenal

The French winger has already been mooted as Liverpool's Plan B, though Arsenal appear a more natural fit. Operating predominantly on the left flank and cutting infield onto his right foot, Barcola could upgrade the Gunners' current options in that position.
