Palace Circle Rosenior After Chelsea Implosion

Liam Rosenior's brief and bruising spell in the Chelsea hot seat has ended, but there's already talk of a Premier League lifeline this summer—albeit one that may not materialise immediately.

The 41-year-old's departure from Stamford Bridge came after just 106 days, with BlueCo pulling the plug on Wednesday following a catastrophic run of five consecutive league defeats without a goal. Chelsea now languish seven points adrift of Liverpool in fifth place, with the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds looming on Sunday. Calum McFarlane will take temporary charge for the second time this season.

Rosenior's downfall was swift and brutal. Brought in after impressing BlueCo with his work at sister club Strasbourg—where he steered them into the Conference League—he found himself battling player mutiny from the outset. Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella openly questioned the sacking of Enzo Maresca, while Rosenior's own post-match criticism of the squad following the 3-0 thrashing at Brighton proved the final straw.

Yet despite the carnage, Crystal Palace have registered their interest in the former Hull City boss. According to Football Insider's Callum O'Connell, the Eagles were genuinely impressed by how Rosenior's Strasbourg outfit set up when the sides met in the Conference League—a performance that has kept him on their radar as they hunt for Oliver Glasner's successor.

"Palace took note of that and were looking at him potentially to replace Oliver Glasner," O'Connell explained. "They were very interested and liked what they saw from him there and at Hull City."

The complication? Rosenior may step back from football altogether following his Chelsea ordeal, potentially forcing Palace's hand to look elsewhere. The south London club are also tracking Getafe's Jose Bordalas and Rayo Vallecano's Inigo Perez, while Frank Lampard—fresh from guiding Coventry back to the Premier League—has caught their eye too.

Andoni Iraola, who's recently announced his Bournemouth departure, remains another target, though he's understood to be the leading candidate for the Chelsea job itself. Palace will need to move quickly if they're to land the Spaniard, with several suitors circling.
