Vitor Pereira Confirmed as Nottingham Forest Manager Following Dyche Sacking

Vitor Pereira has officially joined Nottingham Forest as their new head coach, stepping into the breach left by Sean Dyche's exit this week.

The 17th-placed Reds have now turned to their fourth permanent managerial appointment of the 2025/26 campaign. Dyche's tenure came to an end following Wednesday's goalless stalemate against Wolves—a result that left Forest fans particularly frustrated given their side managed 35 shots without finding the back of the net.

The statistics paint a bleak picture for the East Midlands outfit. From matches against Wolves, Leeds United and Crystal Palace, they've mustered just two points. With the relegation zone sitting only three points away, the pressure to reverse their fortunes has become acute.

Pereira's arrival was confirmed by journalist Ben Jacobs, who revealed the Portuguese manager has penned terms through to the end of next season. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano subsequently corroborated the news, confirming the deal had been sealed with the former Wolves boss now set to take charge.

The appointment makes considerable sense on several fronts, according to analysis from Football Insider. Pereira arrives with Premier League pedigree, having managed Wolves through a similar relegation scrap last season—a campaign in which he proved effective at stabilising a struggling side. His previous spell under Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis at Olympiacos provides an existing working relationship. With Pereira currently available and the dots connecting neatly, Forest's recruitment team moved swiftly.

Rob Earnshaw, who spent time as a Forest striker, has backed the appointment. Speaking on talkSPORT, the former striker praised Pereira's composure and professionalism. "His body language is Nuno Espirito Santo-esque," Earnshaw observed. "He's calm, he's composed, very chilled, but driven."

Earnshaw stressed the magnitude of the task ahead: "Whoever comes in, the number one urgent thing is you must stay in the Premier League and lift that football club. You've got to deliver in your results and your points."
