Olise Slams Door on Liverpool Switch as Reds Pursue Bayern Duo

Liverpool's search for a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah is proving complicated, with their primary target appearing to have other ideas.

The Merseyside club confirmed this week that Salah will depart at the end of the season, despite his contract running until 2027. Both sides have agreed to part ways now, with the forward leaving on a free transfer. Whilst Liverpool would ordinarily command a substantial fee, the arrangement allows them to free up significant wages whilst easing the midfielder's exit.

In their hunt for a replacement, the Reds have zeroed in on Bayern Munich's Michael Olise—regarded as the ideal candidate to fill that void. The former Crystal Palace winger has flourished in the Bundesliga and represents arguably the most capable option available.

Yet there's a problem. Olise has reportedly informed Liverpool that he's staying put at the Allianz Arena this summer. Bayern Munich are equally resolute on the matter, with the player showing no inclination to push for a move. Whilst not dismissing Liverpool's overtures entirely, the winger's preference lies elsewhere. When he does eventually leave Bavaria, Spain beckons as the most probable destination, with Real Madrid or Barcelona likely suitors—though that scenario remains some way off.

The club's persistence hasn't gone unnoticed, with Liverpool renewing their enquiries over the 26-year-old in recent weeks. However, those efforts appear destined to fall short.

Undeterred, Liverpool are also exploring other options at Bayern. Left-back Alphonso Davies has been offered to several clubs despite recently penning fresh terms in Munich. The defender has been presented to a host of Premier League heavyweights, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, as potential acquisition targets should the right circumstances materialise.

Both Liverpool and United are understood to be actively hunting for reinforcements at left-back heading into the summer window, placing them among the first contacted regarding Davies' potential availability.
