Bruno Guimaraes Reveals Brazilian Dream Clubs as Man Utd Interest Swirls

Newcastle's Brazilian midfield lynchpin Bruno Guimaraes has thrown open the curtain on his future ambitions, naming two clubs from his homeland as the only destinations he'd consider once his European adventure concludes.

The Magpies midfielder has been the subject of considerable speculation in recent weeks, with Manchester United among the suitors reportedly circling the 27-year-old. Newcastle have made it known that their star assets could depart this summer should the right financial offer materialise.

Yet rather than address the immediate transfer chatter, Guimaraes has instead cast his gaze toward the twilight of his career. When discussing a Vasco da Gama shirt in his possession—a gift from the Rio club—he made his intentions abundantly clear: a return to Brazil remains his unfinished business.

"I really want to," he said when asked about playing for Vasco. "If I come back to Brazil, it's either Athletico or Vasco, man."

The midfielder's emotional ties to both clubs run deep. His entire family hails from the Basque region, and he grew up in São Januário, the historic home of Vasco. Athletico Paranaense, meanwhile, developed him as a young prospect and holds his eternal gratitude. Both clubs occupy a special place in his heart.

Previously, Guimaraes has acknowledged that fulfilling his father's dream of seeing him don a Vasco shirt ranks among his personal aspirations. He's been candid about his timeline too, suggesting he has roughly a decade or more to play at the highest level before considering such a move.

"I definitely want to finish my career in Brazil, but I haven't planned a date or year," he reflected. "I have, I don't know, 10, 12 years ahead of me."

The speculation surrounding a potential Old Trafford move intensified when Fabrizio Romano confirmed that representatives from Manchester United and Guimaraes' camp have indeed met. However, Romano cautioned against reading too much into the encounter, emphasising that while talks have occurred, significant ground remains to be covered before any deal materialises.

"A meeting took place a few weeks ago between the agents of Bruno Guimaraes and Manchester United," Romano explained. "Manchester United maintain a very good relationship with the agency. Bruno is represented by one of the biggest agencies in the world, so it's normal to have meetings with top agents for top clubs."

He added a note of caution: "Then, from that meeting and reaching an agreement on personal terms, meeting and go to sign the player in the summer, there is still a long way to go."
