Barcelona have seemingly had enough of Marcus Rashford's services, with manager Hansi Flick now actively encouraging the Manchester United forward to pursue a move to Arsenal instead.

The Spanish giants secured Rashford on a season-long loan for the 2025/26 campaign and hold a €30m option to make the arrangement permanent. However, they've shown little appetite for triggering that clause, citing both the substantial fee and his considerable wages as stumbling blocks—particularly after splashing out on Anthony Gordon from Newcastle.

Barcelona are now only prepared to offer around £13m for Rashford's services, leaving the forward facing an uncertain summer. Rather than push for a Barcelona switch, Flick has reportedly advised him that a Premier League return represents the more sensible path forward.

According to reports from Spain, Flick views Rashford as surplus to requirements and has made clear the German tactician no longer fancies him, even on a free transfer. With Gordon's arrival already stretching the squad harmony, the Barcelona boss apparently believes allowing Rashford to depart represents the cleanest solution for all involved.

Arsenal have registered their interest, alongside Newcastle, Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Bayern Munich. Yet the Mirror has confirmed Rashford holds no interest in moves to either the Magpies or Spurs, keeping his options relatively narrow.

The Gunners, it seems, can provide what Barcelona cannot: genuine first-team football and a clear pathway to prominence. Mikel Arteta's project offers Rashford the chance to be a cornerstone of the attacking setup rather than warming the bench in Catalonia. Barcelona's financial constraints mean they're simply not in a position to guarantee a starring role for a player of his standing.

Rashford is bracing himself for pre-season at Old Trafford while the transfer saga plays out, though Arsenal appear increasingly likely to provide him with an exit route.

Even Paul Scholes has given the thumbs up to an Arsenal switch. Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, the former United midfielder described such a move as "a great move for both parties," suggesting Barcelona are attempting to negotiate a reduced fee below their asking price.

On a potential Rashford return to United further down the line, Scholes was dismissive: "It very rarely happens, a big player like that going to a big club and then coming back. They very rarely come back and I don't think United will really want him back."
