United Open Door to Rashford Exit as Arsenal Alerted to Star's Availability

Manchester United have made a striking decision to entertain offers for Marcus Rashford, with Arsenal among the Premier League clubs put on alert regarding the 28-year-old's potential departure from Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have instructed intermediaries to explore all avenues for the England international, who returned from a season-long loan at Barcelona with the Spanish outfit unwilling to activate their £26 million purchase option. United's eagerness to move Rashford on stems from the substantial wages on his contract—£325,000 per week next season—a burden the club is keen to shed despite their Champions League qualification under Michael Carrick.

Barcelona have indicated they would only consider another temporary arrangement rather than a permanent deal, leaving United actively seeking alternative destinations. The club's willingness to consider all options means no suitor has been ruled out, with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea among those made aware of Rashford's situation. Paris Saint-Germain, long admirers of the winger, have also been contacted, as have Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal's interest carries particular intrigue given they are searching for reinforcements on the left flank. Manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are keen to bolster their options, with Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli currently their recognised left-sided operators. Rashford would represent an experienced acquisition for the Gunners, having spent the 2025-26 campaign on loan in La Liga. Former Tottenham striker and Arsenal enthusiast Darren Bent recently championed the prospect, suggesting on talkSPORT that a fee in the region of £20-26 million would represent exceptional value for a player of Rashford's calibre, highlighting his versatility across multiple forward positions.

Theo Walcott, the former Arsenal forward, has also sung Rashford's praises following his Barcelona stint. Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show, Walcott praised the winger's performances and demeanour, noting: "I think he's been outstanding. I've watched quite a lot of Barcelona and really took more of an interest with Rashford going out there. It's been really good for him. I think he's a dead cert to start for me. I just think the way he's played, he's playing with freedom, that enjoyment, that smile. We want to see that smile."

Walcott believes Rashford should be a guaranteed starter for England at the 2026 World Cup, where the winger is currently involved with the national squad.
