Man Utd Make Direct Approach to Tchouameni's Representatives Over Real Madrid Midfielder

Manchester United have made direct contact with the representatives of Aurélien Tchouaméni, signalling their determination to lure the Real Madrid midfielder away from the Bernabéu.

The Red Devils' push for the French international comes as Michael Carrick's side prepare for Champions League football next season, with INEOS stepping up their recruitment efforts to bolster the squad's credentials. United have already secured Ederson Silva from Atalanta and are hunting for additional midfield reinforcement.

Transfer correspondent Fabrizio Romano has consistently identified Tchouaméni as United's ideal candidate to fill the void left by Casemiro. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained the dual obstacles standing in the way of a deal.

"Real Madrid so far are yet to open doors to an exit of Tchouameni, club-to-club," Romano stated. "And then the salary because Aurelien Tchouameni is on a very big salary at Real Madrid, and for Manchester United to match that salary was not part of the plans."

The journalist went on to emphasise United's genuine admiration for the 26-year-old. "There is no doubt at all that Man Utd dream and love Aurelien Tchouameni. They super-appreciate the player and they consider him perfect, but at the same time, to be realistic in terms of transfer fee, it depends on Real Madrid and Real Madrid are yet again to open doors to an exit and then also the salary, it's a point."

However, the landscape appears to be shifting. Journalist Gianluigi Longari has reported that the arrival of José Mourinho at the Bernabéu has prompted a change in Madrid's stance, with the club now willing to entertain offers for their midfielder. Tchouaméni himself would prefer to remain in the Spanish capital, though the Merengues are considering his departure.

Longari's update on 23 June confirmed that "Manchester United have expressed strong interest to Tchouameni's agents," with the midfielder currently on duty for France at the 2026 World Cup finals.
