United Eye Morgan Rogers as Summer Priority After Carrick's Backing

Manchester United have zeroed in on Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers as their number one attacking priority heading into the summer window, with interim manager Michael Carrick pushing hard for the move.

With the Red Devils sitting just two points clear of the Premier League's top five, INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are already mapping out their transfer strategy. While bolstering the midfield ranks remains the chief concern, strengthening the attacking options is also firmly on the agenda.

Carrick, who managed Rogers during his time at Middlesbrough, has made his feelings clear internally. The 23-year-old England international fits his tactical blueprint, and the interim boss has made a personal recommendation to director of football Jason Wilcox that Rogers represents an ideal fit for his system should he remain in the hotseat next season.

The Price Tag Question

Villa's valuation presents a significant hurdle. The Midlands club are holding out for €100m (£86.6m), effectively double what AC Milan are demanding for Portugal winger Rafael Leao. The latter would represent a far cheaper option at €50m (£43.2m), yet United's scouting operation has identified Rogers as the superior prospect.

Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Rogers remains United's first-choice option to provide width on the left flank and offer competition for Matheus Cunha. The versatile attacker—equally comfortable operating as a winger or attacking midfielder—has caught the eye of multiple top-six clubs.

Competition Mounting

United face stiff competition for Rogers' signature. According to transfer insider Ben Jacobs, Manchester City's rivals Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain are all actively pursuing the Villa star. Liverpool and Bayern Munich, meanwhile, are not yet in the mix with the same intensity.

Rogers himself appears relaxed about his options. The 23-year-old remains open to either staying in England or testing himself abroad, with noted admiration for PSG boss Luis Enrique potentially factoring into any discussions about a continental move.
