United and Liverpool Circle Fulham's Robinson as Robertson Gap Looms

The summer transfer race for Fulham's Antonee Robinson is heating up, with Manchester United now muscling in on Liverpool's pursuit of the American left-back. However, all signs point to the USMNT star preferring a move to Anfield over Old Trafford.

Liverpool's need for reinforcement at left-back became acute when Andy Robertson completed his free transfer to Tottenham Hotspur. With Milos Kerkez currently the sole established option and Kostas Tsimikas returning from his Roma loan with an uncertain future on Merseyside, the Reds have Robinson firmly on their radar.

According to TEAMtalk's reporting from late June 2026, Liverpool are actively pursuing the 28-year-old as Robertson's successor. Discussions have reopened between the clubs after the Reds passed on Robinson last summer in favour of Kerkez. Crucially, Robinson himself is understood to be eager for the move, keen to return to the club where he spent time earlier in his career with Everton.

Yet United's interest cannot be dismissed lightly. Sky Sports reports that Erik ten Hag's side are monitoring Robinson as they seek left-back reinforcements ahead of their Champions League campaign. Newcastle's Lewis Hall represents an alternative target on their wishlist.

Robinson remains contracted to Fulham through summer 2028, having established himself as a key operator at Craven Cottage. His statistics tell the story: four goals and 22 assists across 215 appearances. Manager Marco Silva has repeatedly praised the player's development, describing him as "one of the best left-backs in this league" in December 2024.

Silva's assessment went further, highlighting Robinson's transformation both in and out of possession. "The way he has improved off the ball has been exceptional," the Portuguese boss noted. "He's improving season by season, and week by week you can see he is improving." Silva also emphasised Robinson's athleticism and defensive growth, painting a picture of a player still evolving at the highest level.

With the 2026 World Cup squad already selected, Robinson will have the chance to showcase his credentials on the global stage before any summer switch materialises.
