United Move Fast on Fernandes After Ederson Deal; Hall Interest Confirmed

Manchester United are wasting little time in the transfer market this summer, with Ederson Silva's arrival at Old Trafford confirmed and a second midfield recruit already in their sights.

Manager Michael Carrick has secured the Brazilian midfielder on a four-year deal, with the club set to compete in next season's Champions League. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the agreement between United, Atalanta, and Ederson has been finalised.

With Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte set to depart, United need reinforcements in midfield, and they've identified West Ham's Mateus Fernandes as their priority target.

The 21-year-old Portuguese international is valued at approximately £45million by the Hammers, who've just dropped into the Championship. According to reporter Ross Harwood, the player has already given his personal consent to terms and is prepared to formally request a move to force the deal through.

Harwood reported that negotiations are expected to accelerate, with the expectation that Fernandes will become United's next confirmed signing following the Ederson completion.

West Ham's relegation has clearly softened their negotiating position, and Fernandes is understood to be eager for the opportunity to join a Champions League club. United have been in contact with his representatives for some time, laying the groundwork for what appears an increasingly straightforward transaction.

In parallel, United are preparing to enter discussions with Newcastle United over Lewis Hall. The 21-year-old, capable of operating as both a left-back and midfielder, has expressed genuine interest in making the switch to Old Trafford.

INEOS are likely to need to table an offer in the region of £50million to convince Newcastle to part with the England international. Harwood revealed that talks are imminent, with personal terms unlikely to present any stumbling blocks.

Hall's situation at St James' Park has become less certain following Newcastle's disappointing campaign. The club have already seen Anthony Gordon depart for Barcelona, and questions remain over the future of Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali, with United among his admirers.

The summer window is shaping up to be a busy one for United's recruitment team.
