United Eye Archie Gray Raid If Spurs Take Championship Tumble

Manchester United are eyeing a swoop for Tottenham's brightest prospect, Archie Gray, if the north London outfit's relegation fears come to pass this season.

The 20-year-old has emerged as one of the Premier League's most promising young talents and represents the sole constant in Igor Tudor's beleaguered Spurs side, having started every match under the manager's watch. The former Leeds United midfielder has proven his versatility by featuring across the back line as well, making 16 league starts plus four substitute appearances, alongside seven Champions League starts and one substitute outing so far this campaign.

According to reports, INEOS chiefs at Old Trafford are keen to capitalise should Tottenham's dire predicament result in Championship football next term. The United hierarchy are hoping to acquire Gray "on the cheap" if Spurs go down, targeting a cut-price deal for the talented midfielder.

Gray has indicated he won't actively seek an exit from Tottenham should they suffer relegation, though United are expected to test the club's resolve regardless. The prospect of Championship football represents a potential turning point in his future.

Tottenham's defensive contingent faces an even more uncertain outlook. Argentina's Cristian Romero, who penned fresh terms only last summer, has already signalled his potential departure could be on the cards.
