Mendes Accelerates Ugarte Exit as Man Utd Prepare Midfield Overhaul

Manchester United are bracing for substantial midfield changes this summer, with Jorge Mendes actively working to facilitate Manuel Ugarte's exit from Old Trafford.

The super-agent is attempting to advance a €28m (£24m) departure for the Uruguayan midfielder, whose future at the club appears increasingly uncertain. Uruguayan journalist Rodri Vazquez reports that Mendes will meet with Jorge Chijane in the coming days to accelerate Ugarte's potential move away from United, with Atlético Madrid and Napoli emerging as the primary suitors.

United's midfield restructuring comes on the back of a strong finish to the season under interim boss Michael Carrick, though his permanent appointment remains unconfirmed. The club is determined to recruit at least two new midfielders regardless of managerial developments.

The exodus begins with Casemiro, who will depart on a free transfer when his contract expires. Despite romantic sentiment around his recent contributions—scoring crucial goals and leading from the front—the Brazilian's departure remains the plan, with Inter Miami reportedly keen to explore options with the veteran midfielder.

Ugarte, signed from Paris Saint-Germain for an initial £42m, looks set to follow Casemiro out of the door. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has indicated the midfielder is "expected to leave" this summer, though he concedes there remains "a very small chance he stays."

Romano's assessment suggests a 90-95 percent probability that Ugarte departs, with Mendes already fielding interest from Italian and Turkish clubs. The landscape could shift further as additional sides enter the conversation, though no firm agreements have materialised to this point.

With both Casemiro and Ugarte heading for the exit, United's recruitment drive will focus on bringing in fresh legs to energise the midfield for the campaign ahead.
