Malacia Exit Looms as United Plot Record Baleba Swoop for Summer

Manchester United's January business appears to be winding down without any new arrivals, with the club seemingly content to concentrate their efforts on a significant summer rebuild. Having already moved several players out of Old Trafford in recent months, the Old Trafford hierarchy now looks poised to make a decisive move in the coming off-season.

Tyrell Malacia could be the final piece to depart during this window. The Dutch left-back, who has managed just four Premier League appearances since last season began due to persistent injury troubles, is attracting interest from clubs in Italy and Turkey. Reports suggest his exit is 'likely to happen in the final days of the window', with a move away appearing increasingly probable.

The summer window, however, is shaping up as the real story. United's recruitment strategy this year involved a substantial £230m investment across four signings—Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Senne Lammens—all of whom have bolstered Michael Carrick's side considerably. The club has also been shrewd in offloading unwanted players, securing meaningful fees through permanent deals or loan arrangements with purchase clauses for Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho, and Antony.

The midfield, however, remains a priority. With Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte potentially following Casemiro out the door, United will need reinforcements. Brighton's Carlos Baleba has long been identified as the ideal replacement, with the club priced out of a move last summer when they lacked the necessary funds following their other expenditure.

Now United have set their sights firmly on the Argentine midfielder, with sources indicating they plan to smash their transfer record with a £100m deal. The club is determined to complete the signing when the summer window opens, with Baleba himself reportedly keen on the switch. He has already agreed personal terms with United and remains enthusiastic about joining one of England's biggest clubs—a prospect made more appealing by the chance to reunite with fellow countryman Bryan Mbeumo.

Brighton, however, remain resolute about keeping their prospect for the remainder of this season, making any January move impossible. All the pieces appear to be in place for summer, though, with the midfielder willing and United ready to break the bank.
