Maguire Backs Carrick's Fresh Start While Taking Veiled Dig at Amorim's Reign

Harry Maguire has emerged from his injury layoff with glowing words for Michael Carrick's early impression as Manchester United's caretaker boss, though his comments carried more than a hint of criticism toward his predecessor.

The United captain, now back available for selection, has been impressed by what the club legend has brought to training in the opening days of his temporary tenure. Carrick stepped in following Ruben Amorim's departure last week and faces the daunting prospect of Manchester City in his opening fixture back in the dugout.

"Really impressed," the 32-year-old said of Carrick's initial impact. "I knew Carras beforehand and spoke highly of him. He was a magnificent coach working under Ole Gunnar Solskjær."

Maguire elaborated on what sets the former midfielder apart, highlighting his tactical acumen and communication skills. "He's got great ideas. He speaks really well. Tactically, he's really, really good," the defender continued. "He's had a lot of experience at Middlesbrough as a manager, and I'm sure he'll come in and implement his ideas here. He's a legend of the club, and I'm sure the fans will get right behind him. With him and all his coaching staff, I've been really impressed this week."

"We haven't had much time on the grass, but we've had a couple of sessions," Maguire explained. "He's trying to bring new energy and new ideas without drilling us too much tactically at this moment. He just wants to bring the energy back into the building, and I think that's so important."

The 32-year-old recognised the unique pressures facing United, noting how constant scrutiny can drain a squad's vitality. "This club is scrutinised, a lot of eyes on it all the time, analysed. People can lose a little bit of energy within that," he said.
