Casemiro Set for Inter Miami Switch as Transfer Nears Completion

The Casemiro exit from Manchester United is moving into its final stages, with the Brazilian midfielder poised to complete a switch to Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.

Having arrived at Old Trafford from Real Madrid for approximately £70m, the 32-year-old's time at the club has been marked by considerable ups and downs. There were periods where he appeared to be past his best, yet he managed to restore his standing over the past two campaigns, establishing himself as a reliable performer for the Red Devils.

The midfielder impressed during his partnership with Kobbie Mainoo under interim manager Michael Carrick, but his departure has been on the cards for some time. His current contract is set to expire this summer, with United holding the option to extend on identical terms through 2027—though only if Casemiro accepted a substantial wage reduction. Rather than pursue this path, the club confirmed months ago that he would leave as a free agent.

Casemiro has now settled on his destination: the Florida-based MLS franchise. According to reports, he has identified Inter Miami as his chosen next club, with the deal in advanced stages of completion.

The appeal is straightforward. The midfielder is drawn to the ambitious project unfolding in Miami and the prospect of linking up with a star-studded ensemble. Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Luis Suárez represent the calibre of talent already assembled—a roster among the most illustrious ever constructed in American soccer.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the move's trajectory, noting that Inter Miami have been working on securing Casemiro's signature since March. The Brazilian has made his preference abundantly clear, with the expectation that paperwork will be completed imminently. Crucially, Casemiro wanted to see out the season at United before making the jump to Florida.

Fellow analyst Ben Jacobs reported that verbal terms are nearly finalized, with Miami confident they can complete the transfer whilst adhering to MLS salary cap regulations. Despite interest from other clubs, including LA Galaxy, Casemiro has made his choice known to all potential suitors. The transfer is closing in on completion.
