Leboeuf and Saha Back United's Push for PSG Midfielder Zaire-Emery After Ederson Deal Sealed

The summer rebuild at Old Trafford is gathering pace. United have now wrapped up their first piece of business after Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Ederson is officially joining the club from Atalanta, with all documentation signed between the two sides.

The Brazilian midfielder has been keen on the move for months, with everything aligned between player and club. An initial medical under Atalanta's watch went smoothly, and whilst Ederson still needs to complete his formal medical and put pen to paper on his contract following his holidays, the hard work is done. Romano indicated that paperwork formalities are the only remaining hurdle before the official unveiling.

Yet United aren't stopping there. The club intends to bolster their midfield further, with work already underway behind the scenes to secure at least one additional recruit in that area.

That brings Warren Zaire-Emery into focus. The PSG midfielder has caught the attention of former France star Frank Leboeuf, who believes he'd be an excellent fit for Michael Carrick's side as they build on their impressive second-half charge to third place and Champions League qualification.

Leboeuf reckons Zaire-Emery possesses the mentality needed for the Premier League grind. "He's a warrior," the ex-Chelsea defender told Canada Sports Betting. "He'll give everything for whichever team he plays for." However, Leboeuf conceded the youngster would benefit from quality teammates around him and questioned whether he's quite ready for the step up just yet.

The midfielder's campaign in Paris was decidedly mixed. After struggling through the opening six months—partly, Leboeuf suggested, due to uncertainty over his future—Zaire-Emery finished the season strongly, though his inconsistency meant he missed significant minutes.

Fellow former France international Louis Saha has gone further in his enthusiasm, describing Zaire-Emery as his "dream signing" for United. Saha outlined the midfielder's considerable versatility, capable of operating across midfield and on the right flank, whilst praising his intelligence, commitment and work ethic.

"Any manager in the world would want him," Saha told Compare Bet. "He'll deliver nine times out of ten, never complain, and he performs." Saha acknowledged that at PSG, Zaire-Emery sometimes found himself behind established names like Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha and Joao Neves, but insisted the youngster is still developing and could flourish alongside talent like Kobbie Mainoo at United.

Saha believes the midfielder's trajectory suggests elite suitors will be circling, with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich all potential destinations should United miss out.
