Manchester United Seal Ederson Deal as INEOS Eyes Premier League Midfield Targets

Manchester United have secured their midfield reinforcements with the completion of Ederson Silva's arrival from Atalanta, a transfer that has drawn widespread approval for its value in the current market.

The Red Devils have agreed terms to bring the Brazilian midfielder to Old Trafford for approximately £38 million as they prepare for their return to European football's elite competition. The move represents shrewd business according to those with knowledge of the club's recruitment strategy.

Sandro, the former Tottenham midfielder and compatriot of the incoming signing, has outlined his reasoning behind the positive assessment. Speaking to BritishGambler.co.uk, he highlighted how the fee compares favourably to other names circulating in United's orbit.

"When you look at the alternatives United have been linked with—players like Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, and Tchouameni from Real Madrid—they're all exceptional talents but command significantly higher prices," Sandro explained. "At £38 million, Ederson represents genuine value in today's transfer market."

The former Spurs man praised the midfielder's physical attributes and versatility, noting his previous involvement with Brazil's national setup. "He possesses the strength and athleticism required to compete in the Premier League, and there's clear evidence that other top-flight clubs were keen on securing his services," Sandro added.

Scott Interest Tempered by Tactical Considerations

With Ederson's deal essentially complete, United's hierarchy are now exploring additional midfield options. Bournemouth's Alex Scott has emerged as a prime target, with reports suggesting INEOS are plotting an approach for the England international.

However, former United chief scout Mick Brown has cast doubt on whether a summer move materialises, despite Scott being on the club's watchlist. Speaking to Football Insider, Brown explained the tactical mismatch between what United require and what Scott offers.

"Scott has certainly caught the attention of Manchester United and numerous other top clubs," Brown noted. "His involvement with England ahead of the World Cup, endorsed by Thomas Tuchel, will only enhance his standing. But I'd be surprised if United move for him imminently."

Brown's assessment centres on the profile of midfielder United are actively pursuing. With Ederson arriving as an all-action replacement for Casemiro, the club requires a different type of operator for their second midfield signing.

"They want someone in the mould of Elliot Anderson—a player who covers ground, makes tackles, and drives the ball forward," Brown explained. "With Kobbie Mainoo back in contention, Ederson arriving, Bruno Fernandes operating ahead of them, and Mason Mount already on the books, their midfield is taking shape. But the specific skillset they're chasing doesn't align with what Scott brings to the table."
