Ugarte Exit Triggers Double Midfield Rebuild for Manchester United

Manchester United are gearing up for a significant midfield overhaul this summer, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealing that departures will dictate an ambitious recruitment strategy.

The Red Devils face a major rebuild in the engine room after Casemiro's exit, and now Manuel Ugarte looks set to follow him out of Old Trafford. This dual departure has crystallised the club's thinking: they'll need to bring in reinforcements on multiple fronts.

Romano confirmed that European clubs are already circling Ugarte, with movement afoot to find the midfielder a new home. The expectation is that both he and Casemiro will depart before next season kicks off.

With two key midfielders heading for the exit, United's recruitment team has concluded that one new signing is absolutely certain. However, the second arrival is rapidly moving from possibility to probability as conversations intensify within the club's hierarchy.

"One for sure, 100%, but could be two," Romano explained, noting that the second deal could "become almost guaranteed" depending on how negotiations develop around Ugarte's situation.

The club's transfer window activity has improved markedly in recent seasons. They've already overhauled their attacking department and resolved their goalkeeping issues, and Champions League qualification plus summer sales will bolster their budget further.

Several midfield targets remain under consideration. Sandro Tonali continues to feature prominently on United's radar, though Newcastle's valuation, interest from Manchester City and Arsenal, and other variables will influence whether a deal materialises. The situation remains fluid, with no concrete progress as yet.

Elliott Anderson is another name generating interest at Old Trafford, with City and United both keen. However, City are reportedly pushing harder at present, leaving United to explore their broader shortlist.
