Vitek Exit Could Bank United £10m in Summer Overhaul

Manchester United are plotting a significant squad reshuffle ahead of the summer window, and one relatively under-the-radar name looks destined for the exit door.

Goalkeeper Radek Vitek, the 22-year-old Czech stopper, is poised to leave Old Trafford with the club eyeing a fee in the region of £10m, according to reports. The move makes financial sense for United, who require funds for their anticipated spending spree.

Vitek has been on United's books since 2020 but remains without a senior appearance to his name. Three separate loan spells have followed, with his current assignment at Championship outfit Bristol City proving the most fruitful. Fresh from Roy Hodgson's arrival at Ashton Gate, Vitek has established himself as their regular starter.

The goalkeeper penned fresh terms at United just before his Bristol City loan was arranged, keeping him contracted until summer 2028. Yet that security hasn't softened his reluctance about returning to Manchester as a number two. Having tasted consistent senior football, the prospect of warming the bench at Old Trafford holds little appeal.

The sale represents shrewd business for United in another respect: classified as homegrown, any proceeds will register as pure profit on their balance sheet. Vitek's improving market value owes much to his productive loan experiences, which have enhanced his development considerably.

His departure would form part of a broader clear-out at the club. Casemiro's exit via free agency is already confirmed, with no fresh contract forthcoming for the Brazilian midfielder. Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho will also depart when their agreements expire at season's end.

Outgoings already arranged include Rasmus Hojlund's permanent move to Napoli for €44m (£38m), though Marcus Rashford's Barcelona switch remains uncertain. United had set a pre-agreed asking price of €30m (£26m), but reports suggest the clause expired without a deal materialising.

United are also open to entertaining bids for Andre Onana, Manuel Ugarte and Joshua Zirkzee. Onana harbours hopes of fighting for the number one spot alongside Senne Lammens upon his return from Trabzonspor, but the club has made clear they have no plans to reintegrate the Cameroonian into their plans.
