Mount Staying Put at United Despite Milan Interest

AC Milan are preparing for a significant summer rebuild under Ruben Amorim's stewardship, having already smashed their transfer record by bringing in Goncalo Ramos from PSG for €74m plus add-ons – a figure that dwarfs the €50m they previously paid for Rafael Leao's services.

As the Italian club plots its spending spree, speculation emerged that Amorim might cast his net back towards his former hunting ground at Old Trafford. Reports from Italy suggested Mason Mount had been proposed to Milan, with a valuation of around €25m (£21.5m) floating about.

It's a figure that underscores just how much the 27-year-old's market value has withered since United paid Chelsea £60m – comprising £55m upfront plus £5m in add-ons – to secure his signature. The gap between what he cost and what he might fetch is difficult to ignore, particularly given his recurring fitness troubles have blighted his time in red.

However, Manchester United have moved swiftly to put the kibosh on any notion of a departure. According to Chris Wheeler of The Daily Mail, the club have no intention of cashing in on Mount this summer, and the player himself is equally keen to remain at the club.

United insist they're unaware of any concrete discussions with Milan and are not entertaining offers for the midfielder. Mount, for his part, harbours no desire to quit Old Trafford and has been grafting away in Spain on an individual conditioning programme ahead of his return to pre-season training.

His versatility – comfortable operating through the middle, as an attacking midfielder, out wide or even as an emergency forward – makes him a valuable commodity for Michael Carrick's squad planning. A fresh start under the new regime appears to be precisely what Mount needs, and both parties are aligned on that vision.
