United Eye Atletico's Llorente as Ugarte Heads for Exit

Manchester United are reportedly pursuing Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente as they continue their search for midfield reinforcement, with the Spanish outfit having received a formal proposal from the Red Devils.

The offer on the table stands at €35 million—equivalent to £30m—according to reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes. Atletico are deliberating internally over whether Llorente's market value has peaked, though the midfielder's Champions League pedigree and proven ability to hit the ground running in elite leagues appeals to United's hierarchy.

The club's midfield recruitment plans come as they weigh up potential departures to fund fresh arrivals. United spent approximately £230m last summer on Benjamin Sesko, Senne Lammens, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, offsetting costs through the sales of Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho.

Transfer activity this month may depend on further outgoings, particularly given the financial constraints that reportedly contributed to Ruben Amorim's departure. The club have since appointed Michael Carrick as interim manager until the summer, with sources suggesting they remain keen to strengthen midfield.

Al-Hilal's Rúben Neves has also been mooted as a target, with the Portuguese midfielder valued at around £20m and potentially offering a more economical alternative.

Manuel Ugarte's departure could provide the funds needed for either move. Turkish journalist Yakup Çınar claims the Argentine midfielder will definitely leave United this month, with Galatasaray pursuing the deal on a loan basis with an option to buy. Çınar revealed that club officials including Muslera and Torreira have been involved in discussions with Ugarte, who has already reached personal terms with the Istanbul outfit.

This represents a significant development following earlier reports that Ugarte had agreed individual conditions with Galatasaray, with the player's representatives convinced by the proposal. The loan-to-permanent structure would allow United to recoup funds while providing Ugarte with a fresh opportunity away from Old Trafford.
