Manchester United Set to Launch £34m Assault on Brazilian Wonderkid Eduardo Conceição

Manchester United are gearing up to make a substantial move for Palmeiras' teenage sensation Eduardo Conceição this summer, with the club preparing a formal offer worth €40 million (£34m) in fixed fees before any additional bonuses are finalised.

The Red Devils have already invested heavily in their squad, splashing over £200m on five arrivals last summer—Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Senne Lammens, and Diego Leon all making the switch to Old Trafford. Yet the club remains intent on bolstering their ranks further, with plans afoot to recruit at least two fresh midfielders alongside a left-winger and left-back.

The 16-year-old Brazilian has been labelled "the hottest prospect in world football," and United face stiff competition for his signature. Manchester City and Barcelona are both in advanced negotiations with the South American outfit, though the Palmeiras hierarchy are holding firm on their €40m valuation.

Newcastle have already tested the waters with a bid package worth €25m (£21.5m) plus an additional €15m (£12.9m) in add-ons, only to be rebuffed. Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping tabs on developments, whilst Barcelona are believed to hold an edge thanks to the considerable influence of sporting director Deco.

The uncertainty surrounding Manchester United's permanent managerial position adds another layer to the puzzle. Michael Carrick has emerged as the favourite to land the job following an impressive interim spell, during which he's compiled eight wins, two draws, and two defeats from his opening dozen matches. Third-placed United are now virtually assured of Champions League football next term.

When pressed on the club's summer recruitment strategy, Carrick remained cagey but candid. "There are stages to work through," he explained to reporters. "Decisions need making, and timing's crucial—my own situation being one of those factors. We're certainly having conversations, which is natural enough, but I'm not committing to anything specific recruitment-wise just yet. These things take time, and I'm not making a fuss about it."
